Basically all i know is that i want to learn how to play the instrument but i dont know how to go about buying a quality, trustworthy and affordable guitar and amp as well as all of the other stuff or how i should go about learning how to play it. Im pretty much at ground zero and any/all help from anyone with some experience would be greatly appreciated. Btw, im only 15 so i can't exactly break the bank with this but i am willing to consider lots of options and i just want a quality, trusty guitar that looks cool and has a great sound. If listing some of my favourite bands will help (cuz im most likely gonna work on covers for their songs) helps then please say so and i can post them here. I need all the help I can get from what/where to buy and how to start playing and what not. All help is welcome and appreciated. thanks! Alright, I was watching this video on YouTube learning to play Good Riddance on acoustic guitar by Green Day. Anyways, everytime he strums a chord, I do it and mine just sound completely AWFUL, like, it sounds muted or something. My friend who can play the solo to TTFAF tuned my guitar for me, so I think he knows what he's doing and the tuning isn't off. I understand some people like this genre and others hate it. I just like the music just as much as any other genre. I just wanted to know, what are some guitar scales that I really need to be working on? I got a lot of techniques down, but I really don't know how to sweep pick really good. I want to so bad because I have heard regular metal bands sweep pick and it sounds so beautiful. Are there any other guitar techniques close to that that I need to know by heart if I want to stand out from the Deathcore scenario? I get lessons at school for trombone, so i can play and read music. On-top of that i have self-taught piano and guitar as well. I want to self-teach flute as well. Hey, I'm a beginner when it comes to improv. I play guitar if my nickname hadn't already given it away. I am currently learning about the Rhythm Changes (i got rhythm, oleo, etc etc) and I need some help. I've memorized the changes, I've learned the arpeggios (for each chord I've made sure to know the arpeggio right across the fret board)... but I'm having trouble with actually making the change from one chord to the next... I can sit there and play Bbmaj7 arpeggios for however long I want, but then when i want to change to G7 (in this case - rhythm changes) i have to pause for a moment before jumping into it... is this just due to needing more practice or what... ? I'm also learning solos by charlie christian and such to try and apply to the improv... I've been playing piano for quite a while now (over 6 years) and I quit lessons about 1 year ago because I could start learning things on my own. I wrote a song the other day and tried programs such as Mixcraft and ACID but neither have decent sounding guitars and pianos. I am a bass guitar player and have had problems learning a particularly fast song. I have tried using 3 fingers and after a lot of practice I still cannot keep up with the song. The only other option I can think of is to use my little finger as well but it is simply too weak to get the same volume as the other fingers. I have tried playing more softly to keep the volume constant but it does not end well. So i would like to know how I could make my little finger stronger. Ok i have learned off the most our of tune 20 dollar first act guitar out thee (i call her old reliable tho cause i learned off her). Ive been playing for a year.
