Resolved Question: Can somebody explain this to me please?
I'm attempting to install a wifi router modem to my desktop. I get so far then a message appears saying "The setup Wizard was unable to locate the Gateway on your network etc" This is trying to install using the disc provided. I then attempt to install manually from the handbook it gives 1 or 2 settings for UK customers and tells you to contact your ISP for any other details you may require or are required by your ISP. I phoned them and they said its not a router they use ( did not say it was'nt compatible) and are not familiar with, not one they use so couln't help me much. I do have an Internet connection with it. I have the Power light, Wireless light, 1 Ethernet light, DSL light & Internet light all showing. I run Windows XP but cannot determine if I have a wireless connection. It can be quite a problem when you have not got a clue. Its a Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Home Gateway WAG200GHi Phlebob, Yes, I am trying to set it up wirelessly and it is connected with an ethernet cable moreResolved Question: Cheapest Wireless Router in the UK ?
Hi, My Router died on me last night and i have 13 computers that share the internet in my house :-( I really have very little money and don't really want to spend anything at all.. Where is the best/cheapest place to get a wireless router for DSL/Viring/NTL NOT BT OR ADSL.. I will consider even buying second hand if someones got one.. Thanks Lee moreResolved Question: Internet Connection Help Needed - Urgent?
Hey, I've been having problems with my internet for a while now, I'm with tiscali uk, and I find it's not bad at all in terms of speed when browsing the web etc, Although when it comes to downloading music, the speeds are quite awful, with speeds like 30Kb/s for torrents. I think I am on the 2MB Connection with tiscali. Also another problem I've been having over the last few days is random disconnections from the internet at random points. I'm using a D-Link Wireless ADSL 2+ router, although i'm connecting via the ethernet cable ( I think it's called that, the blue wire). I think it's also something to do with my firewall settings, because when I try to sign onto the new Windows Live Messenger, it says it could be something to do with my firewall settings... Although i've removed all of my firewall's etc... I'm just wondering if anybody knows what could be wrong with my connection, and possibly give me some assistance, also if you would help me on msn messenger, just leave me your address thanks a lot Tom moreResolved Question: Anyone up to speed (ha-ha) on modem teaming/bonding (i.e. connecting 2x broadband connections to 1x PC)?
Hi you guys, I've been researching modem teaming/bonding online and nobody seems to have a definite solution. Most people are talking about load balancing or don't really get the problem/solution required. Quick bit of background. The term "modem teaming" is when you connect 2x broadband (xdsl or cable mostly) lines together to get one mega fast connection. For instance, if you had a 50mbps line with Virgin media, and a 20mbps line with o2, theoretically you would have a 70mbps fat monster line...well for the UK anyways. With that in mind, what I'd like to do is get my 50mb Virgin cable and 20mb o2 adsl lines connected to 1x PC and get roughly 70mb. Now before anyone says "get a dual WAN router", I'm not looking to "load balance". I want 70mb's for web browsing, single file download, etc. Anyone know how to do that :o)? moreResolved Question: IF i bought a Belkin Belkin G+ MIMO router Wireless Router would my PS3 be able to connect to the internet?

Ok, here goes nothing! I called my Aunt at UK, to get me a Wi fi router... I live in India.... It came after quite a few delays and now I finally have it.... But there is a problem... This is the picture - http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31jz5feqPjL._SL500_AA280_.jpg there are a total of 8 lights... 4 for the LAN connection port.. i.e. LAN1 Lan2.... the other 4 are:- 1) Power (turns on) 2) ADSL (turns on) 3) Data transfer (doesn't turn on) 4) Wireless signals (turns on) I have already put in the ADSL cable of my phone line... (they gave me a converter thing, which takes in some kind of phone line {maybe the one used in UK,} and changes it to DSL or ADSL whatever... but in India you get that DSL/ADSL line directly, so no conversion was needed), the power chord, and the ethernet cable.. also joined the ethernet cable to the computer.... But when I open the CD and enter some info, then it finally says that it could not connect to the internet.... When I use my normal modem, I have no problem in connecting to the net... that modem also takes in the same 3 cables... I had a doubt that when I put in the CD, it asks me to choose my country, ISP... but as India is not in the options, I just write India in the country, and choose 'other' in the ISP field.... but then it asks me some VP/VC, some more stuff which I don't really understand, so I just write anything, and go to the next step.. But it just wont connect....... Can someone give me any help?? moreResolved Question: wireless router for ps3?

Hi, I have a Dell Dimension 5150 desktop, 3 yrs old now. Don't know if it is wireless enabled or not. Doesn't look like it via my Device Manager and can't see any antenna sticking out anywhere. I'd like to go wireless and currently get broadband via my telephone line (a BT line). Apparantly I can go wireless by buying a wireless router and adapter and connecting it to my current ADSL equipement. Alternatively it seems I could replace my current ADSL equipment by buying a wireless router than has its own built in modem. Not sure it this still means I'd need an adapter to wireless enable me. I've been looking at option 1 here at this link (adapter included) http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1914494741.1228055533@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdfadefldehdghcflgceggdhhmdfof.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=174210&category_oid and option 2 here (adapter included) http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1914494741.1228055533@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdfadefldehdghcflgceggdhhmdfof.0&page=Product&sku=587733 I'm in a 4 bed bungalow (loft conversion so 2 beds upstairs) and will want to connect the Desktop (upstairs); a PS3 and a Wii (downstairs) and a laptop (from anywhere in the house). I have no clue other than what I've managed to state above! Money is not the primary factor, but ensuring I get the right thing which is fairly straight forward to set up, is speedy, and the signal gets through easily from all over the house and can cope with all this things and possibly more in the future connected to it, that's the priority! Any advice on the way to go and the suggested models above would be greatly appreciated. I recently upgraded from 512k broadband to 8Mb, about a week or two ago. My router is showing 448 / 1,120 for up/down. How long will I have to wait for it to reach 8mb? It rose to its current value after about a week. I checked http://www.top10-broadband.co.uk/ and it said my line only supports 1Mb, while all the providers offer 8Mb. I loath to call this number, but can't anyway because my home phone is broken and you can't call an 09 number from a mobile! The network is really important in my house aswell, as it's not just me who needs the internet.Heres a run through of what I did:- - I plugged in the power plug (obviously) - I plugged in the ethernet cable from the router into the back of my PC - went into the settings (all were factory defaults) and enabled PPPoE session - I was required to put in a username and password, as expected, and so I put in the details from my dial-up broadband in this format:- Service Name: Broadband Username: myusername.fsnet.co.uk@fs Password: mypassword Match Domain Name: (blank) - Selected "Keep Alive" with a redial period of 20secs - Saved the settings - Opened IE and tested it on google - Google opened and I shouted "YES!!" - Clicked on the "images link" to see if it was consistand and it worked - But, upon returning to the google homepage, I was confronted by the "Internet Explorer Cannot Display Web Page" - I went back into the settings, and went to the moniter, to see if i was connected - The internet was down! Hi, I work in a local computer shop and love nothing more than to help people with there computer problems by giving them honest, realistic advice; but the other day for the first time ever a customer really got on my tits (well moobs). This man had come into the shop with a Belkin Vision Router that he had purchased from Amazon.co.uk for about £10 cheaper than we sell it for. However the router he had purchased did not have an ADSL modem built in. He asked me what *I* could do about it so I turned around and said “nothing – go back to Amazon and ask them!”. He really annoyed me more than any other customer I have ever served because he was so big headed thinking he could beat the system and save a tenner. Would you have given the same response or should I have been more helpful? Its not so much I was annoyed at his lack of knowledge more his attitude of asking what *I* can do about it. PLEASE NOTE: That I am using an ADSL "SpeedTouch" Modem @ 8MBPS, just to point out this is NOT a router, I have tried to Google many times to find my answer and they where all related to routers. Hello. I manage a studio complex in a basement where, although I get good reception on 3 mobile, most of my tenants get no reception at all on other networks such as tmobile and vodaphone. They have to go upstairs to make phone calls, and have to leave their phones upstairs when expecting calls - extremely inconvenient and irritating and not good for business either! What I wondered was - has anyone invented a device which picks up the signal from the transmitter and kind of "re-broadcasts" it back and forth - essentially a relay system, much like a wireless adsl router. Alternatively, do mobile companies offer remote transceivers, which I guess would be no more complex than an arial much like the one built in to the phone, just on the end of a long wire. That way, you could position the receiver in a reception area and bingo. I'm in the UK. moreTop Best Adsl Router Uk Links
